John G. Hexem, MD, PhD
ConsultantDr. Hexem is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist.
After undergraduate work at Yale University he attended Medical School at the University of Cincinnati receiving the MD degree in 1979. He then went to the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania for residency and fellowship training in Anesthesiology, becoming Board Certified in 1987. He also received a PhD in Chemistry during 1982.
He specialized in Liver Transplantation during the eight years he spent as Assistant Professor of Anesthesia at the University of Pennsylvania. He then served as Medical Director of Anesthesia Departments in both Pennsylvania and Missouri, where he developed protocols for conscious sedation in hospital settings.
This experience has impressed upon him the need to provide education and guidance for those physicians and dentists who are contemplating using sedation of patients during procedures performed in their offices.
